Discussion Forum conducted by John Reid of CATA Alliance
Canada in the Global Economy

Competitive advantage will be maximized by the Canadian public and private sectors supplying people skilled in the development, application, use and maintenance of advanced technologies throughout all sectors of the national economy. In the Flat World, we must ensure that Canada's resources are being used to their maximum potential and see that businesses and governments are continuously creating and adopting advanced skills, new technologies and efficient organizational approaches.

- Survey of career, how can we make Canada an Innovative nation like Finland.
- The world is becoming more flattened; outsourcing is a big Wave which is going to hit us.
- Why we have to create business associations, you can do something if you are part of the group. Synergy of partnership.
- Education: We do not have innovation culture in Canada; we have to create such platform.
- National brand for Canada: how to respond to this flat world.
- CIPS: Skills shortages, cheap labour off shore, retraining, attract women in Technology.
- No encouragement of failure, In Canada we are afraid of risk. We do not forgive failure. In USA you are encouraged more.
- Training: We should Pull and not push them to learn. No jobs in Canada after his training.
- It is easier to bring trained people. How many jobs we have in Canada.
- Seneca: there is decline in computer studies, no jobs after graduation.

- Max Haroon, SIP: The students decline in comuter studies is due to no job prospect in Canada. Students are thinking to stay put in their own country as the jobs are already outsourced to these countries. SIP was setup to establish certification to accreditation. ACCREDITATON IS A TOP REFERENCE.
Shortage is a myth, people without opportunities are always left behind - shortage or surplus economy of those talents.
