The Society of Internet Professional (SIP) is an 
international, not-for-profit organization of professionals, 
businesses and organizations involved with the Internet. SIP 
mission is to enhance educational and professional standards 
for the Internet professionals and such SIP's main mandate is 
to standardize certification and accreditation. Practicing 
Internet professionals are invited to apply for certified 
membership of SIP (CMSIP), which is subject to assessment of 
qualifications and experience. Membership as an "Associate" is 
un-restricted membership open to all.

SIP has taken many initiatives since its establishment in 
March 1997.

- Establishment of SIP-Institute (an online offering of 
courses over the Internet)
- Development of certification standards for certified 
membership of SIP (CMSIP)
- Development of Web site QA best practices standards
- Monthly panel discussions and symposiums
- Quarterly Workshops
- Various SIGs
- Online members' directory

There are approximately 3000 associates in including certified 
members and corporate members of SIP worldwide.
